Aug 13

Saturday morning I went to the hotel to see my Mom and Sarah but when I got to the hotel they were nowhere to be found. I skyped with Mike in the lobby while I waited and eventually they arrived. Shortly after I had to head back to the apartment so that Lauren and I could go to a casting together.

I was very excited for the casting because I heard it was for a dinner event and a yacht event that actually the Miss Universe Organization has some part in! Everyday I think about how I want to be Miss USA and go on to be in the Miss Universe pageant. I had to go first at the casting because I told the client that I had to be at a show with my Mom and Sarah. The client is Norman who I have said we went out to eat with whose family owns TungLok Group restaurants and catering. I took quick digitals and grabbed a cab to go to the Esplanade which is a famous building in Singapore.

I got there and waited for my Mom and Sarah who went early to get our tickets. They came back from getting food and they brought be some Malaysian vegetables and rice. I ate and then we headed into Jump 2011 which is a comic Korean martial arts show.

The show was a little bit of immature humor or some of it was directed towards children but overall I enjoyed it and had a couple of laughs. There were some cool moves and talented people in terms of flexibility and gymnastics!

After the show we walked to the Singapore Flyer which is an observation wheel like an extra large ferris wheel.

We got our tickets and before going on we walked through rooms and hallways that had information about the observation flyer as well as different pieces of art, which was pretty cool! Then we were on the ferris wheel and enjoyed the view!

The ride lasted about half hour to forty minutes and we didn't want it to end.

I had a job that night at Marina Bay Sands so we started to head down the road to the shoppes. We walked on a neat bridge that had a great view.

I walked my Mom and Sarah to the stores across from the hotel and then I said goodbye for the night because I was modeling at a Hot August Nights private party on the roof of Marina Bay Sands with Miranda! I went to one of the suites in the hotel and we got our hair and makeup done. Miranda had been sick but she was finally feeling better that night :-)

We had two looks for the night which consisted of swimsuits and coverups from Silvian Imberg and shoes provided by Nine West.

When the event started we were told to just have fun and enjoy the event. There were impersonators performing and we watched "Elvis Presley", "Tina Turner", and "Rod Stewart" put on a show! Miranda and I got orange juice from the bar and just talked and listened to the music while greeting guests. It was so fun and then it got even better when the event staff told us that we could go in the infinity pool!! No one else was allowed in the pool, only the models and we had inflatables. Ever since I got to Singapore I wanted to go in the infinity pool on the roof but only guests staying at the hotel are allowed to. When Miranda and I were in the pool we were on an inflatable together and we looked out at all of Singapore and were in bliss.

Afterwards we changed to our second outfit and for the last hour of the event they let Miranda and I sit in the restaurant by ourselves and eat food that they brought out to us. I ate about four pieces of squares of cake that they had cut and it was delicious. We were so thankful that we got to work for this event and we went home and went to bed.

Aug 12

Friday morning we were at the hotel and got ready to go to the botanic gardens for the day. I looked up directions on gothere.sg that I always use. I knew that the gardens were far away and it said it would take a little over an hour. We took a bus since it is cheap and easy, but we had to take a couple of busses for a total of 33 stops. Once we traveled 29 bus stops on two buses we were getting ready to board the next bus to botanical gardens and I checked my directions and saw that it said...

Destination: "Original Botanical Garden Famous Fish Ball Noodles"

We started laughing because the search engine automatically put this at the destination rather than just botanic gardens. We started laughing together because of the name and that it was not the gardens but then we went to a gas station and asked if it was close to the gardens and they said it would be about a half hour taxi ride! We were so far in the wrong direction! Suddenly it was not so funny and I felt bad because I only had a little bit of time to go to the gardens. We quickly ran to the subway and called Sarah's business friend who is from Singapore and asked him where to go. He told us what stop to get off at and he drove to the stop and picked us up.

We were all hungry and Sarah's friend brought us to Dempsey Hill here we ordered panini sandwiches to bring to the gardens. While we were waiting for our food I walked around the hill a little bit.

We got our food and brought it to the gardens and ate at the entrance. Then we walked on the main path in the park and it was really nice.

I was sad that I had to say goodbye while they got to see the rest of the park but I had to be back for a job. I went to the apartment and got Lauren to go. Miranda was hired for the job too but she had been really sick so she canceled the job :-( Lauren and I got to the job location at the Grand Hyatt early so we stopped at a Sweet Talk and I decided to try an oreo banana bubble shake. It was so delicious I could not believe I had never had something like that before.

Lauren and I went into the job which was a private event we were hospitality ambassadors for where we were to greet guests. We got our hair and makeup done and changed into sleek, black dresses. We went out to the entrance of the event and welcomed the guests. Later we stood by the doors while the guests entered the dining room for dinner. During dinner there were a couple of speeches made and Lauren and I each walked a guest up to the microphone kind of like an award show model to show them where to go. After that we were told to take a break and hang out in the room we got our hair and makeup done before. They had dessert models who were covered in golden chocolate to escort the cake out for dessert. We were told that we were going to go back out to help with the event but no one ever came back to get us! We wound up hanging out for almost three hours in the room! While we waited we took pictures and Lauren started playing with the props from the job.

I was tired and hungry and I ate some of one of the big lollipops haha The event staff said that we had to stay until midnight so we did and then we ran to get a bus home. It was an easy event job but I'm not sure why they kept all of us for so long. Anyway, I was happy to be a part of the event and when I got home I showered to get all of the gel out and then slept very well.

Aug 10/11

I woke up Wednesday morning with my Mom and Sarah :-) We went to my apartment for me to show them and get stuff for the day. Then we went to the agency so that I could get my weekly allowance and talk to one of the bookers. Afterwards we stopped by the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore because it was in between the agency and Chinatown. Before shopping we decided to grab a bite to eat and we went to a place that I have not been in a while, where I was craving cooked eggplant and green beans with sauce. It was just what I wanted, so delicious. Then we spent a while in Chinatown shopping and walking around. My Mom and Sarah were not used to the heat so we got ice cream at McDs and went back to the hotel.

After we rested for a little we got our shopping shoes back on and headed to Bugis. I had seen some cute things there with Lauren a couple days prior and wanted to go back and get them. Bugis is filled with vendors of cheap clothes and items. I got two pairs of flat boots and Sarah had fun looking at the many dresses each vendor had. We walked around for a while until we were tired and headed backt o the hotel again. We made sure to get back in time to quickly get ready to go out to a new bar that my agency set up for us models to go to that night. The roof-top bar was called Halo in Wangz hotel right near my apartment and the hotel they were staying in.

It was so fun hanging out there with my Mom, Sarah, and Lauren. We got free food and drinks so I was happy that my Mom and Sarah got to have a free night of fun their first full night in Singapore. We had little dishes of pasta and Sarah had little pieces of salmon and then later Lauren and I had french fries and marshmallows. A little later Miranda and her friend Morgan who was in town stopped out for a while. Miranda was feeling really sick but she wanted to come for a little bit and bring her friend out.

We were having fun and then we heard that there was a chance to go to Ku De Ta nightclub at Marina Bay Sands. I really wanted my Mom and Sarah to see it while they were visiting and I was not sure when they would be able to if we did not go that night, so we decided to go! I was so excited when we got there and were going up the elevator and walking out onto the top of Marina Bay Sands. I had only been to Ku De Ta once before and I was excited for them to see the amazing view.

We had so much fun and I am so glad we got to all go together! We went back to hotel and passed out.

*******************************************

Thursday morning my Mom, Sarah and I went to eat breakfast at the plaza near my apartment. We ate at bread talk and sat outside at a table in the plaza. Afterwards we decided to get manicure and pedicures since I needed one for upcoming jobs anyway. We went back to their hotel and I got my nails done the usual light pink. It was nice to sit and relax getting our nails together even though I had to be at a shoot right after.

I ran from there to go to a shoot for Wine & Dine Magazine.

I was lost and thought I was going to be late so I started running. I got to the cafe/restaurant just in time and sat down to wait. When no one was coming up to me I decided to look around and see if I was supposed to be somewhere else. Towards the back of the cafe, around the corner I saw the crew looking for me. I was glad I got chosen for the job and I like the type of modeling for dining magazines. Most of the pictures I was in the background of the food and I was more silhouetted in the photos. The food looked amazing and the photos made the dishes look even better! The magazine will be out in September so we will see how it turned out!

After the shoot the crew offered me to share the kewi meringue cake which was difficult for me to pass up but I had to run to meet my Mom and Sarah for dinner because the shoot went a little later than it was supposed to. I met up with them and we went to Clark Quay for dinner on the water at Harrys.

I got a margherita pizza that I usually get everywhere I go out to eat. It was very good and it was so nice eating outside. Clarke Quay is a very lively area and is fun to walk around at night. While we were eating my Mom noticed moving lights in the sky and it looked like UFOs of little planes with bright colored lights on them. They were flying all around and then all of a sudden they each shot green laser lights out of the front of them! I tried to take a picture but it was too late the two little planes flew away.

When we got back to the hotel my Mom fell asleep right away. Sarah got ready quick and we went out and met people at Soul nightclub which is now called Haute I believe. We went into the club part and went up to the VIP section to take pictures.

We hung out for a little downstairs on the main floor and then decided to call it an early night and headed back.

Aug 8/9 National Day and Mom and Sarah come to Singapore!

This morning I woke up and went to McDonalds with Lauren before we headed out for our busy day of castings. First I had a casting for high-end condominium property shoot where they were looking for someone mid-20's to early 30's and for the casting I had to pretend I was doing pottery. Since then I found out I was going to get the job but I had other jobs that conflict with it :-/. Once we got done we had to rush to the next thing we had to be at 1 and it was 12:30 already. We ran through the blazing sun to get to the subway and then ran to the next place. We had to try on dressed for a birthday event we were shortlisted for. Miranda met us there and after we were done we all headed to Orchard to meet the client for the birthday event so they could confirm us or not. We just had to walk into the room and meet the client and introduce ourselves and they approved us :-)

Afterwards Miranda and I headed to a casting for Wine & Dine Magazine. We just had a to keeping posing for the camera while standing and sitting in a chair. Then I headed back to the apartment and our new roommate Amanda arrived from Brazil. The three of us ate dinner and then headed to Bugis where there are different vendors to shop from to try to find an I <3 SG (Singapore) shirt because the next day was Singapore's 46th National Day! We had no luck there but we found so much other cute stuff that we want to go back and get. We got back to the apartment to find Miranda and for the rest of the night we all just hung out around the apartment until bed time.

*****************************************************************

Happy 46th Birthday Singapore!!

Tuesday I skyped in the morning and then found out that a group of friends were going to go for a hike in the rainforest. Eight of of took the MRT and walked to the hiking trail. Right when we got there we saw a reptile swimming in the water! The area was beautiful and we walked on a trail for a little over 2 hours when we got to the tree-top walk.

We walked out onto the bridge and looked out at the rainforest. There was a nice breeze and it was so relaxing being up there. Then we kept hiking to get back and when we were almost to the exit we saw monkeys in the trees! We took pictures and watched all of the monkeys climbing around, they were so cool! When we were leaving the park there were more monkeys walking around too. Here a monkey was kissing a sign haha

When we were heading back to the apartment we saw helicopters flying around that had the Singapore flag attached flying in air. Then we got ready really fast to try to go downtown to see fireworks. We could hear them and see a little bit through spaces between the buildings but the roads were blocked off and there were so many people so it was difficult to see them.

We had to be downtown anyway because Lauren, Nadezhda, Andrew, Amanda and I were being treated for dinner by a client Norman whose family owns the TungLok Group restaurants and catering. We went to one of the restaurants and it was beautiful!

I ate the most delicious salad I have ever had, a yummy bowl of vegetables and noodles, pumpkin creme brulee, and a fruit dessert! I love creme brulee and I had never heard of pumpkin before so I had to get it!

After dinner I headed out so that I could get ready to surprise my Mom and Sarah who were lading in Singapore! Their flight was late at night and I waited in the hotel lobby until they arrived at about 1:30am! I ducked behind a chair and when they walked in I ran towards them and said WELCOME TO SINGAPORE!!!!! It was so amazing to see them walk in and hug each other :-) After they checked in I stayed at the hotel with them that night.

Aug 7

Sunday morning it was pouring so I was sad because Sundays are our beach days. I skyped with Mike all morning and then ate a little lunch. Right after lunch time it started clearing up so Lauren, Nadezhda, Andrew and I all got in the shuttle to go to the beach club. The beach club was not very busy because of the morning showers but it was nice and relaxing, we had some drinks and hung out. I got my corn and cheese quesadillas that I have been having lately and ate some of my friend's french fries...mmm.

Then Lauren said she wanted to go find the only Victoria Secret in Singapore which was near where we were but on the other side of the beach. We decided to walk the whole way to the other side and we saw some cool things on the way. First we saw some wild peacocks both male and female! This was the closest I have ever been to a peacock, especially a wild one!

Right when we started walking along the beach again we saw a bridge that I had heard about and wanted to go to. It is a wooden and rope bridge over the water and it was fun to walk on. When we got to the other side we were on a little island in the water. We looked at a sculpture on the island and sat on a palm tree that was hanging over the water.

Afterwards we walked up a tower that was on the island an overlooked the water and the beach where we walked from. It was so beautiful!

Where we were is the Southern most point of continental Asia! Then we kept walking through the different areas of Sentosa and took the tram to the stop to see the Merlion. I had only ever seen it driving by before so it was neat to walk around by the statue. Then we walked down to Lake of Dreams and Resort World which is outside of Universal Studios!

We went to Candylicious, Hershey's World, and Victoria Secret. Later on the way back home I stopped at a store to buy a birthday present for my best friend Sarah! Before getting back to the apartment to go to bed Lauren and I of course grabbed ice cream from McDs :-)

Aug 5/6

Friday we didn't have anything going on so Miranda, Lauren and I decided to go to one of the major shopping areas to go to a cafe. I ordered a delicious milkshake that was made with Nutella! Miranda ordered an espresso that the picture of it looked huge and it would up being the typical tiny shot. The place was pretty pricey but we decided to take pictures with our drinks and send them to our mother agent Chantale because she liked a picture of Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell

Afterwards I went back to the apartment and stayed in for the rest of the night because I wanted to get ready and get rest for the next day.

************************************

Saturday morning I woke up early to do my makeup for my first test shoot. I got to the address, went to floor 5 and rang the doorbell...and no one answered. I tried over and over and was knocking but no response. I didn't know what to do because I didn't want to leave if I was supposed to do the photo shoot there. I tried calling my bookers and one answered saying they would look into it. Meanwhile I went down to security and tried to figure it out. The security guard recommended to try floor 15 instead of 5. I was hesitant but he was right, the photographer answered the door! The shoot was inspired by some Calvin Klein advertisements:

First we did some swimwear shots and then we did jeans and a tank top and then jeans and denim vest. We wanted it to look like I had some mud on me so we used wet coffee beans! A sneak-peak at this test shoot with Milan:

After the shoot Milan ordered pizza and him and his wife, his friend, and I all ate. They said I could use their pool but I had to head to another test shoot.

I got to the next test shoot for a photographer Kelvin but I had some time to wait because there was another model finishing up a shoot. The the makeup artist did a natural look but with bright pink eyeshadow. My hair was curly because it got wet from the shoot before so she just left it and gelled a strand of hair across my forehead.

Then I went back to the apartment and Lauren was watching Obsessed so I watched the ending with her even though that movie creeps me out. We were hungry after so we headed to the plaza and went to a pizza, pasta, and grill restaurant and I ate algio e olio pasta that was delicious! I wasn't full enough though and Lauren was still eating her pizza so I ordered mashed potatoes too. We headed back to thr apartment and just sat on our laptops until Miranda came back from hanging out with her grandpa who is in Singapore visiting her. We all just hung out and then went to bed.

Aug 3/4

Wednesday was my first fashion editorial shoot! I made sure to get a lot of sleep and then I woke up and got ready to go to a casting and then to the shoot. I took a bus all the way to the casting and when I got off of the bus I was walking around for a long time in the hot sun trying to find where the address was that I needed to go. Once I got on the street, and was almost at the building, a booker called me and said that the client had to postpone the casting.

Immediately I headed to the bus stop to get to my photo shoot for CHIC Magazine!

I got there a little early so I looked at past editions of the magazine. Then the makeup artist did a really good natural look and kept my hair naturally curly but styled it a little. I started out doing shots in the studio for four looks with a long black skirt. So I kept a long black skirt on and they would change the shoes, shirt, and accessories for four different outfits. I believe this was for the online version of the magazine.

Afterwards we did the shoot for the printed version of the magazine and we did 20 looks all outside! It took a while but it was fun putting on the different outfits and the shoot was really relaxed. The idea was similar to Chloe Resort 2012 - http://www.fashionologie.com/Chloe-Resort-2012-Collection-17914406. I really liked the whole team that worked on the shoot and I am excited to see the results!

I went back to the apartment, ate dinner, and relaxed for the rest of the night.

***************************************

Thursday morning I just hung out and later got ready for a couple of castings. My first casting was for a Dior makeup show. I couldn't make it to the casting the day before because of the shoot so I was thankful that the client let me go the next day. She just met me, quickly looked at my book and took my comp card but I would really love to book that job! Miranda came with me because she didn't have a comp card with her the day before when she went to the casting.

Afterwards we went to another casting for an event that needs models. I went to the casting because I am interested in being a hospitality ambassador. The event sounds very elaborate and it would be nice to do!

Miranda and I went back to the apartment and made dinner. I had minestrone soup and Miranda made a huge salad for us to have.

It was so delicious and Miranda titled it "Salad Meal"

While we were eating we were talking to Nadezhda about modeling and looking at her portfolio. She has done so much it is amazing. Then Nadezhda started talking about horoscopes and zodiac signs and the three of us started looking at different sites and reading what it says about each of us. Some of the information shocked us because it explained each of us pretty well and described in detail what we have gone through. We looked at different sites and looked up information about people we know while we digested.

Then Miranda and I decided to go for a run. I ran for a half an hour which is very long for me, and Miranda continued on for another hour on top of what we ran together. Running at night here is so nice...the air feels good and I like clearing my mind and looking around me and taking in that I'm in Asia! I went back and took a shower and went to bed.
