June 29/30

Wednesday was my first day to relax most of the day. In the morning Miranda and I switched bedrooms to a better room with bigger beds and closets. Then we helped our new roommate Lauren move in! Later in the day we all went to a casting for a job that is not really modeling but it is to serve food at a vip dinner where the meals are thousands of dollars per person. After the casting we all went to eat at Modesto's where we split a huge pizza!

Today Miranda, Lauren and I went to a casting for Whitelink Bridal dresses and it was very nice there. The gowns were beautiful and it was fun trying them on together. Afterwards Miranda and I did a tiny bit of shopping at far east plaza where there are some good deals. A lot of the shopping here is more expensive than in the United States but there are some good finds here too. Then we went to Pure Fitness where I worked out for a total of 10 minutes! I will work my way up to working out more but walking around the streets here is a pretty big workout for me. Afterwards we went to a casting to work with a photographer here and that went well! We should be shooting with him next week which will be good to get some different style photos.

Tonight we went to an exclusive event at the Marina Bay Sands for the opening of another Vertu cell phone store location. It was a very nice event and I came to love some very expensive cell phones! The phones ranged from $13,000 to $152,000! All of the phones are made with sapphire crystal screens and some have diamonds on the phone. There was also a magician going around at the event who was so impressive! He did many tricks to us including bending Nadezhda's coin!

June 27/28

Monday morning I had a shoot that was a continuation of the condo property shoot I did Friday. It turned out well and I really enjoyed doing the shoot. Right after I went to a casting for a hair coloring package that would be an awesome job to get even though I have never color/highlighted my hair before! It was also funny when I went to the casting there was another one for a KFC commercial and they had me try out for that one too even though I don't eat chicken. My next casting was for an event at the Marina Bay Sands hotel which is so beautiful!

My roommate Miranda and I met up at that casting and went to the next one together that was for a wine event. After that we went and got some Singaporean food called carrot cake, but it is nothing like the carrot cake we know of back home! I heard that it is made with Chinese radish and ground rice flour and a certain sauce. It was really tasty and filling!

The next day was filled with more castings. The first one was for Mothers en Vogue, then one for a Dior runway show, and lastly one for a LVMH (Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton)/Dior Event!

Afterwards the roommates and I went out to eat at Marche because it was Caren's last night here! It was pretty good, I had pasta and asparagus and a dessert crepe after. It was nice to have a last meal with her, we will miss her!

First Weekend - June 25/26

This weekend was a lot of fun! On Saturday some friends and I went to eat food that is native to Singapore. We ate a place that looking at it I would normally stay away from, but the locals said it was safe and it turned out to be delicious! I ordered a cheese prata which is basically cheese fried inside of a good tasting dough....mmm!

Then on Sunday my roommates and I went to a nice condo here that is going to be a hangout spot for Phantom Models. We had a lunch out on the balcony and it was really nice!

Later on in the day we went to Tanjong Beach Club. It was so nice there right by the water with a beach and swimming pool.

My First Job! - June 24th

I cannot believe that I booked my first job the day after I got here! The shoot was for a condo property that is absolutely beautiful. We did two scenes, and for one of them I had a pretend daughter who was one of the most adorable girls ever! There are so many beautiful condos here and many more are currently being built.

Later after dinner we went to a cool new place called Drink Culture where the whole time I drank 28 Black, which is a natural energy drink. Drink Culture's interior was really different, it was all white with little red candle lights.

First Day in Singapore! - June 23rd

Right when I touched down it all started quickly here! I was feeling a little sick but I made through a day of a test shoot, two castings, and a fitting for my first job already!

Introduction to My Singapore Trip - June 22

It was a blast going to the Miss USA 2011 pageant in Las Vegas this weekend! I have talked to Alyssa (Miss California USA, the newly crowned Miss USA) online in the past and I know that this was her dream. Ever since I was Miss New York Teen USA in 2006 it has been my dream to be Miss USA some day. I think about it everyday, but I want to wait to compete for Miss New York USA until I know I am ready to give my all at becoming Miss USA.

One dream I am following before going for Miss USA is pursuing modeling. As I am writing this I am on my way to Singapore with a two month contract to model for Phantom Model Management. I remember when I was in high school I heard about a girl from the city that I grew up in who had traveled the world modeling. It is hard to believe that now I am going to be living the same life that I had dreamed about when I heard about her. Although I am very excited it is hard to leave the ones I love back home, especially to be so far away for so long. I had to say bye to my parents in Rochester New York on June 18th before I went to Las Vegas and I had to say bye to Gloria and Mike in Las Vegas yesterday :-(. It was emotionally leaving, but all of my loved ones support my dreams and are happy for me. I would not be on my way to having this great experience if it weren't for everyone I love, and they know I am so thankful to have them in my life.

So far this has been a long trip, the longest I have ever taken. I started my departure in Las Vegas June 21st, then connected to Vancouver Canada, and now have been on a plane to Manila Philippines for 13 hours. After landing in Manila I will connect to a flight to take me to Singapore where I will land at about 10:00am June 23rd! I was very nervous about traveling for this long, but it has not been that bad. I was worried when I landed in Vancouver and they put everyone going to Manila into a room so I could not get food in the airport. Luckily I bought something from a vending machine and when I got on the Manila flight they gave us meals. Being on this long flight to Manila I slept for a while when i first got on and when I woke I thought that most of the flight was done and that there would be just a few hours left to fly….but then I saw the screen on the plane say 8 hours left of travel….only 5 hours had gone by! I started to feel a little panicked so I started to watch "Big Daddy" to take my mind off of the flight. After the movie I forced myself to fall asleep again which turned out to be good be cause when I woke up there was a little under 4 hours left of the flight. After eating food, watching "Just Go With It" (yes there is a theme of Adam Sandler, my favorite actor), and playing some solitaire, we are now about to land in Manila! I am so excited to land in Manila because I am a small percentage of Filipina on my Father's side. I feel bad that it is my first time in Manila and I am not with my parents, but I will not be leaving the airport so it doesn't really count. I hope that some day we can all visit together!
Well hopefully this landing goes smoothly and I connect to Singapore successfully! xoxo
