Introduction to My Singapore Trip - June 22

It was a blast going to the Miss USA 2011 pageant in Las Vegas this weekend! I have talked to Alyssa (Miss California USA, the newly crowned Miss USA) online in the past and I know that this was her dream. Ever since I was Miss New York Teen USA in 2006 it has been my dream to be Miss USA some day. I think about it everyday, but I want to wait to compete for Miss New York USA until I know I am ready to give my all at becoming Miss USA.

One dream I am following before going for Miss USA is pursuing modeling. As I am writing this I am on my way to Singapore with a two month contract to model for Phantom Model Management. I remember when I was in high school I heard about a girl from the city that I grew up in who had traveled the world modeling. It is hard to believe that now I am going to be living the same life that I had dreamed about when I heard about her. Although I am very excited it is hard to leave the ones I love back home, especially to be so far away for so long. I had to say bye to my parents in Rochester New York on June 18th before I went to Las Vegas and I had to say bye to Gloria and Mike in Las Vegas yesterday :-(. It was emotionally leaving, but all of my loved ones support my dreams and are happy for me. I would not be on my way to having this great experience if it weren't for everyone I love, and they know I am so thankful to have them in my life.

So far this has been a long trip, the longest I have ever taken. I started my departure in Las Vegas June 21st, then connected to Vancouver Canada, and now have been on a plane to Manila Philippines for 13 hours. After landing in Manila I will connect to a flight to take me to Singapore where I will land at about 10:00am June 23rd! I was very nervous about traveling for this long, but it has not been that bad. I was worried when I landed in Vancouver and they put everyone going to Manila into a room so I could not get food in the airport. Luckily I bought something from a vending machine and when I got on the Manila flight they gave us meals. Being on this long flight to Manila I slept for a while when i first got on and when I woke I thought that most of the flight was done and that there would be just a few hours left to fly….but then I saw the screen on the plane say 8 hours left of travel….only 5 hours had gone by! I started to feel a little panicked so I started to watch "Big Daddy" to take my mind off of the flight. After the movie I forced myself to fall asleep again which turned out to be good be cause when I woke up there was a little under 4 hours left of the flight. After eating food, watching "Just Go With It" (yes there is a theme of Adam Sandler, my favorite actor), and playing some solitaire, we are now about to land in Manila! I am so excited to land in Manila because I am a small percentage of Filipina on my Father's side. I feel bad that it is my first time in Manila and I am not with my parents, but I will not be leaving the airport so it doesn't really count. I hope that some day we can all visit together!
Well hopefully this landing goes smoothly and I connect to Singapore successfully! xoxo
